Comprehensive Sexual Education

We provide comprehensive sexuality education to empower informed choices. We offer comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). We empower women and girls with scientifically accurate information, skills and values to make informed decisions about their bodies, relationships and health. We cover topics like puberty, contraception, STI prevention, consent and gender equality, aiming to reduce unintended pregnancies, HIV/STIs, and gender-based violence.

The key aspects of SRHR Education are;

1.Goal-CSE is a curriculum-based process that provides age-appropriate, evidence-based information to help young women realize their health, dignity and rights..
2. Core Topics-The key components include human development, reproductive health, relationships, sexual behavior, sexual health and rights.
3. Empowerment & Autonomy- CSE builds self-esteem and agency, enabling young women to make safe, voluntary decisions about their sexual lives.
4. Preventative Focus-Education aims to reduce Teenage Pregnancy, HIV/AIDS and school dropouts among young girls.

The key principles of CSE and implementation

1. Comprehensive & Inclusive-Education must be inclusive of all genders and abilities, addressing the specific needs of, for example, young women with disabilities or out-of-school girls.
2. Rights-Based: CSE is rooted in human rights—ensuring equality, privacy and bodily integrity—and is often supported by international frameworks like the ESA Commitment.
3. Targeted Approaches-While school-based programs are common, community-based initiatives, such as adolescent girl groups, also provide essential, safe spaces for learning.
4. Parental/Community Role-Open communication between parents and children is vital, though often limited by social norms, making community support necessary.

Impact of SRHR Education

1. Delayed Sexual Initiation-Our work on CSE often leads to young women delaying their first sexual experience.
2. Increased Safety-Our work on CSE leads to better use of contraceptives and increased protection against STIs.
3. Improved Gender Equality – Our work on CSE challenges harmful gender norms and promotes respectful relationships.
